FROM THE ACHIVE: Best of Street Style
Spotted in the back streets of Surry Hills – photographer and stylist Mitch Fong wearing our KOSTA. Mixing relaxed pieces with a subtle athletic vibe, we are loving the way he layers different weights of black and teams them with leopard (a year-round staple – the ‘new’ neutral) high-top. It’s the personal details – the turn up of the sleeve, the length of the layers and the surprising pop of colour that elevates this look from ‘errand’ to ‘style.’ Looking at Mitch, you can’t help but hear Hansel (of Zoolander fame) whisper, “relax, its only fashion.”
Six questions with Mitch:
My first encounter with photography ... was in 2005, on-set assisting my friends who are professional photographers. At the time I had no idea what I was doing, but it was here that I learned that I needed to be involved with photography in a professional capacity. I was all, like, “What??! People are able to build careers from being creative and loving what they do!”
Fashion and photography … are a pretty fierce team.
Style is…better when it's not taken too seriously.
The most exciting place to be right now … in bed, getting a good night’s sleep. I’ve been travelling so much recently - just coming back from six weeks spent in LA, Nevada, Phoenix and NYC – you never sleep as much or as well as you think you will in a hotel. Sleep is practically narcotic sounding right now.
Not many people know that …my favourite song is Barry Manilow's "Copacabana".
I never leave home without … my phone, and an overwhelming feeling that I've forgotten something.
