Helen Kaminski has officially launched a new global retail concept in Japan with two brand stores opening in Tokyo, Japan.

Located in shopping districts famous for innovative retail architecture and high-end boutiques, the Omotesando Hills (Aoyama) and Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) stores opened in March 2016, with a third due to open in Ginza in April 2017.

Helen Kaminski Japan’s Chief Operations Officer, Akki Tomita elaborates on the importance of positioning and quality; “Japanese customers are highly discerning and expect an exceptional experience from Helen Kaminski. We selected top-tier locations and customised high-end finishes to convey natural luxury and style - signature values of the brand.

The brand’s Japan retail expansion is part of a broader global strategy. “Our recent repositioning has been a huge success - we’re now poised to extend our global retail concept to select high-end retail locations in key markets during 2016 & 2017.” Allison Bard, Helen Kaminski General Manager.

The gallery-like aesthetic of our global retail concept highlights the natural materials and exceptional craftsmanship of our collections, ensuring our products- and customers- are the heroes of the retail space.”  Carys Elliott, Head of Global Marketing & Digital, Helen Kaminski.

Designed in collaboration with specialist Modular Design Agency Containerkit, integrating Japanese preferences into the global concept design was key to creating a welcoming, customer-centric brand space. “We wanted to create a luxurious yet welcoming environment where customers can linger, interact with our products, and participate in workshops and events. Customising features to the preferences of the Japanese customer – and staff who work there - has been an important consideration.”

Adaptable elements and modular features offer range merchandising flexibility; to accommodate the range of products including hats, bags, scarves and small accessories on offer.

First launched in the Japan market in 1996, the brand established a joint venture company Helen Kaminski Japan Corporation with Yagi Trade Co. Ltd in August 2014, enabling greater focus and investment in retail in this internationally significant trend leading consumer market.

“It is natural for Helen Kaminski to launch our global retail strategy in such an important market.” Helen Kaminski’s General Manager Allison Bard explains, “Our recent global repositioning has been a huge success and we’re now poised to extend our new retail concept to very high-end retail locations in key markets during 2016 & 2017.”

When it comes to luxury shopping in Tokyo, Omotesando Hills is a must-visit. Located in the Aoyama district, the brand mall offers Japanese and international designers such as Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Balmain. It is no wonder Vogue Japan uses the location as the centre of its Vogue Fashion Night Out (VFNO) each year.

With Helen Kaminski’s second global retail concept store in Roppongi’s Tokyo Midtown centre joining Valextra, Josepgh, Ron Herman, and Harry Winston at the end of March, there’s never been a better time take flight for Japan, to peruse Tokyo’s best luxury shopping destinations.
